Born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta to a French-Canadian family, Colin Fagnan is a creative and dynamic professional with a strong academic background and international profile.
With versatility and adaptability as his calling card, he is intrigued by a wide variety of fields and topics, which is evident in his diverse career spanning multiple industries and sectors across 5 countries and 2 continents.
As a proven strategic thinker with a passion for networking, Colin is recognized as an effective, personable, and professional communicator with excellent public speaking and writing skills. He has the ability to cultivate and maintain mutually productive relationships with people of all ages and backgrounds in multiple languages.
With an international profile and a strong focus on bridge building, Colin's strengths lie in identifying, analyzing, and synthesizing information to create strategies that cater to the needs of individuals and organizations. He has successfully expanded the Francophone business community of Alberta, connecting it with other organizations and businesses across Canada, and raising awareness for this network (including with government officials). His work includes utilizing new tools to benefit the community and forging new stakeholder partnerships through networking and lobbying.
Colin's academic credentials include a Master’s in Canadian studies (specializing in Political Sciences) from the University of Alberta (Campus Saint-Jean), where he was honoured with the Queen Elizabeth II Scholarship for Academic Excellence.
He also holds an Associate Degree of Arts in Classical Humanities (Connecticut, USA) and a Bachelor of Arts in Analytical Philosophy (New York, USA), graduating summa cum laude with the latter.
His professional experience spans policy analysis and research roles with the federal government and post-secondary institutions, including a bilingual internship with the Department of Canadian Heritage while studying for his master's.
He has also worked in the finance industry with National Bank Financial helping the award winning Mercier Group to be recognized as one of the top investment firms for portfolio management in Alberta and BC three years in a row during his three year tenure. He has most recently been involved in business community development, exemplified by his recent role as Member Services Manager with the Conseil de développement économique de l'Alberta (CDEA) (the former de facto "Francophone Chamber of Commerce" of Alberta).
Colin is a language enthusiast, fluent in French, English, and Spanish, with working knowledge of many other languages and currently learning Mandarin Chinese. Despite having lived in five countries, he proudly calls Edmonton home, where he enjoys cheering for his Edmonton Oilers. An avid sports fan, Colin has played both soccer and futsal, though hockey remains his favourite sport. He enjoys leading an active lifestyle with hiking, camping, and traveling being among his favourite activities.

His career has demonstrated a unique ability to analyze complex issues, synthesize information, and develop strategic recommendations.
